On July 6, 2025, the final of the 2025 Malaysian Ambassador’s Football Shield was held at Chea Sim Chroy Changvar Secondary School in Phnom Penh. In a thrilling and intense showdown, the Cambodia Airways Soccer Team lived up to expectations, defeating the formidable Naga World team 4:3 in a penalty shootout to claim our first-ever championship title!

This was Cambodia Airways' first time participating in this tournament, and the team made it all the way to the final with excellent teamwork and a tenacious fighting spirit. In the championship match, the two sides tied 1-1 in regular time, and the match ultimately went to a penalty shootout. The Cambodia Airways players remained calm and successfully defeated NagaWorld team, who had reached the final for two consecutive years, and won the championship.




The tournament was organized by the Embassy of Malaysia Phnom Penh, aiming to promote cultural exchange and deepen the friendship between Cambodia and Malaysia through sports activities. The event attracted 24 teams from various sectors, including enterprises, educational institutions, media, and government departments. The matches were played in a six-a-side format, with dozens of high-intensity games taking place throughout the day.
H.E. Shaharuddin Onn, the ambassador of Malaysia to Cambodia, stated in his opening remarks that the spirit of sports diplomacy is an important means of strengthening bilateral relations. He praised all participating teams demonstrated their enthusiasm and competitiveness throughout the tournament. “May the spirit of sportsmanship continue to guide us as we compete and celebrate together.” he added.

H.E. Dr. Un Kheang, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, delivered a speech on behalf of H.E. Prak Sokhonn, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. He emphasized the contribution of this event in strengthening friendly relations between the peoples of the two countries. “This football tournament is more than a game— it’s a symbol of unity and shared aspirations,” he said, adding that such activities help build long-term partnerships between the two nations.

A representative of the Cambodia Airways football team said, “We are extremely proud of our team's outstanding performance in the competition. The championship honor not only reflects our teamwork and tenacious spirit, but also further demonstrates Cambodia Airways' corporate responsibility to energetically promote cultural exchanges between Cambodia and Malaysia.”
